One indicator
of the environmental stress imposed by tourism is the intensity of tourist activity
on each island. In [the Table above], measures of the intensity of tourism activity
are calculated both for the number of (overnight) tourists per hectare, and
for the number of tourists per local inhabitant. These two measures demonstrate
slightly different environmental effects.![]()
