International Council of Cruise Lines, ICCL.
The International Council of Cruise Lines (ICCL) has adopted (June 2001) adopted mandatory environmental standards for all of their members' cruise ships. Each ICCL member line will integrate these industry standards into its internationally mandated Safety Management System (SMS), which ensures compliance through internal and third-party audits. Failure to comply with SMS procedures could prevent a ship from operating from US ports. Compliance with these standards is a condition of membership in the ICCL. The standards are available on-line (pdf-file) at http://www.iccl.org/policies/environmentalstandards.pdf
