Age class

DEFINITION
  • A group of individuals of the same age range in a population. The 0 group are the fish in their first year of life. A fish born in April of a given year, remains in the 0 group until April of the following year. The term usually refers to a year class in long-lived annually breeding species, but shorter units of time are also used, particularly in the tropics.
